In the afternoon of Thursday, 18th, we went to the Musee des Arts et Metiers, kind of like a museum of science and industry. A very interesting collection of early and some not so early scientific instruments including, of course, clocks. These included early astrolabes (devices that were used to predict astronomical events like solar eclipses), early standards of measure (scientific yard sticks and measuring cups), a laboratory setup that was used to make water out of hydrogen and oxygen, a laboratory set up that was used to measure the speed of light, and on the newer end, a Cray computer for the 1980s! I didn’t get too many pictures there because the reflections in the glass make it difficulty
